Prayers for the Local Church

Ephesians 4:11-13 “And He Himself gave some to the apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, until we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”

  • Jesus is the chief Shepard.
    John 10:11-14
  • The Pastor, the shepherd of the flock, has the Shepard's anointing to guide and feed the flock under the direction of the chief shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ- the Head of the Church
    1 Peter 5:4

Ephesians 6: 18,19 “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints- and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel.”

  • We, the local body, are to pray for our pastor and for one another.
  • God carries out His will on the earth through the praying church.
  • Believers are to be determined to respond to the Spirit of God to pray for our local church.

Psalm 127:1 “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain who build it...”
